FASTA PASTA @ South Beach Tower

Hello my little forest creatures!

I'm back on this lovely media medium without a rant or complaint (unlike the last few rounds lol) with something really special for you guys! I managed to fINALLY finish all my essays for this month so I made my way to Fasta, a new pasta themed cafe located at South Beach Tower! Armed with my camera woman and my brand new lovely G7X, we headed down to Esplanade's MRT to sniff out for the new spunky cafe!

We've never really been to that part of Esplanade before so it was definitely a sight for sore eyes when we both entered the vicinity and our eyes were graced with the most alluring of all festive decoration.

We digressed.

It's a refined and exquisite place, there are Christmas lights hung all about, and there's a GIANT Christmas tree that first greets you when you enter South Beach. Naturally, the first thing we did:

HONESTLY, the South Beach is SO GORGEOUS.

The walls are decked with paintings and the entirety of the area is basically a camera/selfie playground. Forgive us, we couldn't resist.

Instagram overload.

After a round of photo-taking (not even inside the cafe mind you) we hurried our way down to find Fasta! Nestled comfortably in a quiet corner, with it's resplendent beams of bright homely light and it's literal neon sign, Fasta isn't hard to find.

Humble and laced with a tinge of elegance, Fasta looks beautifully homespun from the inside, glass cased walls giving way of truly peppy interior.

In with the festive theme, Fasta also currently has a Christmas exclusive menu!

Snug and comfy, we entered Fasta, which at this point of time we pondered about why the quirky sounding name. We didn't think much of it and just decided to take a little peek around the smallish cafe.

Following it's cozy appearance, the seats and tables were mostly wooden and truly aesthetically pleased the naked eye. Even with about 20 available seats, it's wooden interior makes the place seem classy, modern yet homely. Did I mention that the menus even compliment grunge street walls?

We finally settled down and decided to order. Fasta's wide menu offers fusion pastas in something called warm or cold bowls. With a wide range from Scallop Wallop to the Tuna Poke, the fusion bowls are pretty affordable and you can even upsize your bowl for $1.00!

For the creatives, holla where ya be at? You can even create your own Fasta bowl starting at $8.50, and with the variety of different ingredients to pick, you'll be spoiled silly with choices.

Seated at the counter near the kitchen, we even got to see the giant menu up close. There are beverages that they offer too, but we were more excited to try out their pasta bowls!

Took a quick gander at the menu, totally not posing or anything.

We ordered our food and were prepared to wait, so we began to snap photos of the place -

- and our food came almost in a flat 5 minutes (could have been faster) "What?" I gasped. "THAT'S INCREDIBLY FAST." And continued to take more photos.

Andrea, our bae, our hero, who invited us to the cafe ordered their Warm bowl's Chikinaki at $9.00, containing pan fried chicken, sesame, mint and home made teriyaki sauce.

The Chikinaki's teriyaki sauce is da bomb, savory and sweet, the pasta was delectable to look at as well as to eat. The pan fried chicken will be crowned the king of the dish because of it's soft tender meat, seared to perfection.

It's interesting how the food bowls are made out of cardboard and look like takeout bowls - with it's speed of service, it's a good place for office workers to head over, order and take away.

My camera woman of the day, Michelle, ordered the Cold bowl's Vegan Fox, because the both of us were pretty curious about the entire idea of it. The Vegan Fox is priced at an affordable cost of $8.00, mixed in with the thin strips of Angel hair pasta, there were big wheels of mozzarella, tomato and nuts, dressed in a very minty and refreshing sauce.

Health nuts (geddit) you will like this.

The pasta itself was truly piquant, the pasta's thinness worked well with the minty sauce. If anything, this bowl just tasted like heaven in a bite, especially if you finally finished up your essays after WEEKS of sitting down and eating nothing but instant noodles. It's revivifying sauce is truly a perk-me-up. It's nectarous sauce well seasons the dish, definitely something for those who are more heath conscious.

However, if you are not a big fan of cheese, you might get a little overwhelmed by the big wheeled mozzarella slices. Even if you are, you might actually get sick of cheese for a bit - for the first time in my life, Michelle actually said that she had TOO MUCH CHEESE.

On a whim, I decided to order the Cold bowl's Smokey Quacky Ducky at $9.50, I'm gonna be straight out honest here, I don't know why I decided to order this. I am not a fan of duck, nor have I ever made the decision to get a smoked duck pasta dish. Was it my gut that was telling me that the pasta is worth the risk?

Heck, I'm glad I actually ordered it.

Sprinkled in crunchy lettuce, chorizo and smothered in the most delightful home made BBQ sauce, this dish is NOT complete without the four pieces of succulent smoked duck that they have not skimmed from. Compared to the Chikinaki and the Vegan Fox, the Quacky Ducky really outshines the rest with it's enticing savory tangy combination, alongside the divine juicy smoked duck! I will not lie, this is amazing. I will come back and get it again, don't you worry.

Overall, the atmosphere of the cafe was delightful. Quiet, comfy and truly instagram friendly, the food, patrons and location really makes the place unique. While some might find the cafe tiny, I relish the fact that it's snug and small, a good hideout away from the hustle and bustle of the cityscape.

TRY THE DUCK. SERIOUSLY. IT'S FIT FOR A KING. (or a queen, ya know, it's up to you)

THANK YOU FOR HAVING US FASTA! We will be back soon. Special thanks to Michelle for the photographs, Andrea and Jaz for having ussss!
