Mentaiko pasta!

MY OBSESSION WITH MENTAI HAS LED ME TO THIS.

sadly this isn't the legitimate recipe because it was all trial and error for me so let me give you a heads up before you decide to scream at me for being a horrible cook - GET FISH ROE, CREAM, EGG AND MAYO for the mentaiko sauce and don't be lazy like me to just get the ntuc brand sauce because that's for lazy people even though the pasta still tastes not too bad.

SO LET US BEGIN!

The recipe for the mentaiko pasta is the most darn dilly easiest thing you can cook because it's base is just pasta. Whatever else you want to add in is up to your cooking skill level - but since the base dish is spaghetti, it's mostly quite easy to cook up. For the mentaiko sauce, you don't even need to cook anything, just mix up the ingredients, or if you are like me, just bloody buy the ntuc sauce lol.

Mentaiko is almost like aglio oglio cept you add in the mentaiko and chili spices are not part of it. Easy breezy peesy.

INGREDIENTS USED:
  1. Pure olive oil
  2. Black pepper ham
  3. Linguine
  4. Chopped garlic
  5. Mentaiko sauce
  6. Umeshi mushrooms

Firstly, we start with the pasta!
Boil the amount you want with salt and a little bit of olive oil!

Whilst your pasta is being boiled (should take about 8-10 minutes for super soft linguine noodles) you can start chopping up your garlic, black pepper ham and your mushrooms.

Chop up the mushrooms, ham and garlic!

Once the pasta is ready, turn the heat off and let it cool for a bit. While your pasta is cooling off, you can start frying your mushrooms and ham!

Add a little garlic and olive oil, stir fry till slightly golden,
then add in the mushrooms and ham!

Don't forget to season with pepper and salt!

The mushrooms only take a while to be cooked ( 3minutes tops)
so add in your pasta after about 5 minutes!

Stir fry your noodles around before adding the secret ingredient to rule them all.

Yum, yum you can smell the mentai from the screen I swear.

Add in the final touches of parsley and seasoning!

AND VOLIA! IT IS DONE!

Honestly, make your own mentaiko sauce because you can't really taste much of it here because there isn't much fish roe in the ntuc sauce brand.

If you want to add a little more spizzazz into your mentaiko pasta you can add in seaweed and maybe a little poached egg at the top.

There you have it! Mentaiko pasta!

As savoury as this dish is, I have not mastered it yet and I WILL, considering my love for the mentai (sigh sakae sushi why) and so be on the lookout for mentaiko pasta remastered posts because this isn't the end of it!

Always remember kids, evelyn is a horrible cook.
